Be your own Make up Artist

"When you look good outside, you feel good inside."

A lot of my friends ask me to teach them how to apply make up, so I decided to create a make up tutorial. The make up techniques that I'm going to teach you would take approximately 30 minutes. Here's how to apply full make up:

Step 1: CONCEALER

There are many types of concealer: stick, mousse, cream and liquid based. You should use a stick type if your skin is oily. On the other hand, you should use a mousse, cream, or liquid type if your skin is dry or a combination skin.

Apply concealer under your eyes, inner and outer corner of your eyes, corner of your nose, corner of your lips, and other areas that have blemishes, scars or freckles. Just put a small amount of concealer on the desired area. You may use a concealer brush, or use your middle finger in applying the concealer. If your going to use your middle finger, just dab the concealer on your skin. Do this until the concealer blends with your skin, creating a flawless appearance.

Step 2: FOUNDATION

There are also several types of foundation: cake, mousse, cream and the liquid based. The cake type is best used for oily skin, while the mousse, cream and liquid based is best suited for dry or combination skin.

Apply foundation all over your face, starting from your forehead, eyelids, cheeks, chin and neck. You may use a sponge or a foundation brush for easier application. If your going to use a cake foundation, you should wet the sponge first before application.

Step 3: LOOSE POWDER
Apply loose powder all over your face, following the same direction indicated in Step 2. Use a brush that has a big and thick bristle like a kabuki brush.

Step 4: EYEBROW STYLING

Shape your eyebrows. The outer tip of your eyebrows should meet the outer corner of your eye. The arch should fall in line with your pupil, and the inner tip of your eyebrow should meet the inner corner of your eyes. You may choose from the following procedures in shaping your eyebrows: laser, threading, wax or pluck. You may also use an eyebrow scissors to trim your eyebrows for a more defined look.
Put an an eyebrow powder on the areas that have sparse brows.
Comb your eyebrows to create a more defined and polished look.

Step 5: EYE SHADOW

Choose an eye shadow palette. Brown and violet are the colors that compliments almost all skin colors.

Tip 1 # Place an ample amount of loose powder under your eyes. This will catch all the residue from the eye shadow that might fall under your eyes during eyeshadow application.

First, apply the lightest shade of eyeshadow to the entire eyelid using a thick eyeshadow brush. Second, apply the darkest shade to the outer half crease of your eyes and to the lower lid creating an inverted v shape. Use an angle brush for easier application. Next, apply the medium shade to the inner half crease of your eyes, going down to the inner lower lid. Use a thick eyeshadow brush for easier application. Blend the medium and the darkest shade well. Make sure that no lines are visible, and the transition of the medium shade to the darkest shade is flawless.

Remove the loose powder under your eyes using a fan brush. Do this by making light feathery strokes.
Step 6: EYELINER
There are several types of eyeliner: pencil, cream, and liquid based. Liquid eyeliner is best used in creating a more defined look (ex: cat eye look).

Apply the eyeliner above and below your eyelids. If your eyes are small, you can skip the eyeliner below your eyelids. Make small dash lines, and make sure that the eyeliner is very close to the lashes.

Step 7: EYELASHES

Curl your eyelashes from the top to the end (outward direction) using an eyelash curler. Do not squeeze too hard to avoid a check mark looking lashes.

Put an ample amount of waterproof mascara on your eyelashes to create a more dramatic look. Apply this by doing a zigzag motion.

Step 8: BLUSH

The blush application will depend on the shape of your face. For wide shaped face, the direction of the application should be from the sideburns towards the cheeks (inward direction). For oval shaped face, the direction of the application should be sidewards. For normal shaped face, the application should be in the apple of the cheeks towards the sideburns (outward direction).

Step 9: HIGHLIGHTER

Apply the highlighter on top of your blush, and on the bridge of your nose. Blend well using your middle finger. The purpose of the highlighter is to accentuate the areas that are flattering.

Step 10: BRONZER

Apply the bronzer on the areas that you want to hide. If you have a high forehead, you may apply the bronzer on top of your forehead close to the hair line. You can also put bronzer under your blush, and under your jaw line. Remember, that the purpose of the bronzer is to hide the areas that are unflattering.

CREATING A PERFECT NOSE LINE:

Put highlighter on the bridge of the nose, then apply a bronzer or any brown eyeshadow in the corner of the bridge of the nose (for both left and right). Connect the bronzer or eyeshadow in the eyebrows. Blend the bronzer or eyeshadow well with the highlighter to create a pointed nose illusion.

Step 11: LIPSTICK

For lipstick application, it would be best if you're going to use a lip brush. For the upper lip, create a v shape on the bow of your lip, then apply the lipstick from side to side. For the lower lip, the application should also be from a side to side direction.

My 2012 Birthday Wish List

My Birthday is just a few months from now, and this is the first time that I’ve created a Birthday Wish list (believe it or not!). My family and friends would always ask me what I want for my birthday. I would always say "you don’t have to" or "anything." Just to make things different this year, I challenge myself that if someone asks me what I want for my birthday, I would tell them the things that I really want. I hope that for my birthday month, I can have all the items listed down in my birthday wish list. Here it is:

1. White Apple iPod touch 4th Gen

2. Sony Digital Still Camera W610/P 14.1 Mega Pixel W Series 4x Optical Zoom Cyber-shot (Pink)
3. BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300

4. Globe MyFi

5. A black Charles and Keith hand / shoulder bag

6. A medium size Charles and Keith wallet

7. Black Zara boots
8. Sheer LBD

9. Gold watch

10. Laura Mercier Eye Shadow Palette in Plum
